Letter from Marty McGhin
Mission Trip Coordinator

Greetings!  It is an exciting time in the ministry of Cowboy’s Rest Christian Camp.  For ten years, we have seen thousands make the trek down the dusty road in the summer (and the snowy road in the winter), to experience God in His creation and to study His Word.  Last summer, we were challenged to go to the frontier and share the Good News with all men.  We were reminded of Jesus’ great commission to “go therefore and make disciples of all nations”.  And we looked at Paul’s letter to the Romans, where, in chapter 15, verses 20-21, he wrote, “It has always been my ambition to preach the gospel where Christ was not known, so that I would not be building on someone else's foundation.  Rather, as it is written: "Those who were not told about Him will see, and those who have not heard will understand."

Now, following a lot of prayer and guidance by the Holy Spirit, Cowboy’s Rest is excited to be sponsoring its first international mission trip to the Dominican Republic.  We’ve been granted the opportunity to take our camp program to the youth of the farming city of Constanza in the central mountains of this beautiful island nation.  Steve Burrows and I had the privilege to visit the pastors and people of this community a few months ago, and they are very excited about partnering in ministry with us.  The trip will last for 12 days, including travel, and it’s sure to be filled with very challenging but very rewarding experiences.  We will be running camp twice a day for one week, once in the morning for kids and once in the evening for teenagers.  These Gospel Camps will be a mini-version of what we are able to do in Nevada, but the most important thing is that God’s Word and God’s love will be shared.

If you are at least 18 years old, and if God is calling you to go and share His Good News, then I urge you to prayerfully complete an application for this unique and exciting opportunity.   Please do not hesitate to call me with questions, or just to discuss the details of the trip.  I look forward to seeing what the Lord will accomplish through us, by His grace and for His Kingdom!

Serving Him,
