Mission Trip Overview

 

TRIP DATES:   July 30th - August 10th  (See “Trip Deadlines” below for more information.)

 

TRIP COST:   $1,900 per person.  (see Financial Breakdown for more information.)

 

MINISTRY:  The main goal of this trip is to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ.  The main method of doing so will be through Gospel Camps in the city of Constanza.  These short day-camps will run for three hours in the morning (for children), and three hours in the afternoon (for teens), and will last for five days (Monday through Friday).  Members of the Mission Team will be assigned numerous duties each day, which may include set-up, clean-up, snack preparation, music leading, arts and crafts, recreation, and Bible teaching.  Each member’s role at the camps will be tailored toward his or her individual skills and gifts.  Our team will also be partnering with Dominican believers from both Constanza and the capital city of Santo Domingo who will serve as teachers, interpreters, counselors and musicians.  Many more details about the Gospel Camps will be available soon!

 

 
TEAM MEMBERS:  Must be 18 years old or older by July 30th, 2009.  They must be professing Christians who are actively seeking to grow in their relationships with Christ, and who regularly attend a Bible-believing church.  They must also be in good physical, emotional and spiritual health.

TRIP DEADLINES:

ASAP -- Call Marty McGhin at 775-742-2761 to express your interest in this trip.

 

April 24th, 2009 -- All application materials (including your pastoral reference) must be postmarked by this date.  Please mail them to Cowboy’s Rest, PO Box 1512, Carlin, NV 89822

 

April 30th, 2009 -- All applicants will be informed of the decisions of the Mission Team Coordinator in conjunction with the Cowboy’s Rest Board of Directors.

 

May 7th, 2009 -- First Mission Team meeting held in Elko, NV.  Important information will be presented!

 

May 15th, 2009 -- First payment of $650 due from all Team Members.

 

May 30th, 2009 -- Be sure to apply for a US Passport by this date.  For more information, visit http://travel.state.gov/passport   First time applicants will be charged fees totaling $100.  This is NOT covered by the cost of the mission trip.

 

June 15th, 2009 -- Second payment of $650 due from all Team Members.

 

July 15th, 2009 -- Final payment of $600 due from all Team Members.

 

July 30th, 2009 -- Depart for the mission trip.  Arrive in Orlando no later than 5:00 PM EDT.

 

July 31st, 2009-- Fly as a team from Orlando to Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic.

 

August 10th, 2009-- Fly from Santo Domingo to Orlando.  Return home.  More details to be announced.
