These guidelines help us keep camp safe, Christ-centered, and joy-filled for everyone.
If a camper’s conduct becomes dangerous to themselves or others, our staff will manage the situation to the best of our abilities and contact the parent/guardian or emergency contact for guidance and to inform them of actions taken. Unresolvable problems are rare, but when all other plans of action have been tried, we will ask parents/guardians to transport their camper home.
Warnings & consequences:
We love families, but mid-week visits can unintentionally cause homesickness. If you’re considering a visit, please contact the Camp Director first for an update on how your child is doing. The Director is accessible 24/7 during all camps.
If you do visit, please check in with the Camp Director or kitchen staff upon arrival so we know you’re on site.
For the protection of our campers, while maintaining a relaxed atmosphere of fun and adventure, Cowboy’s Rest Christian Camp insists that campers adhere to our code of conduct. No alcohol, tobacco, drugs, or sexual misconduct will be tolerated. Campers breaking the code—or who are rebellious and uncooperative—may be picked up early by parents/guardians (no refunds). Every effort will be made to make your child’s stay enjoyable and safe.
Cowboy’s Rest adheres to a strict no cell phone/electronics policy for campers. Camp is a chance to step outside everyday routines, build independence, and engage fully in new activities without screens. Phones can promote homesickness, hinder friendship-building, and enable inappropriate posting to social media. Please do not send cell phones, iPods, or gaming devices.
Campers are not permitted to smoke or vape at camp. Please do not send or encourage campers to bring cigarettes or vapes. If a camper has a nicotine habit, the camp must be informed prior to arrival.
For our camp programs, we welcome any camper regardless of their gender identity. Our staff is trained to show the love of Jesus to all campers and provide a safe space. To create this environment, we have guidelines to ensure gender issues do not become a disruption at camp. We share these in advance so families can decide whether Cowboy’s Rest is the right fit. If your child identifies as LGBTQ, please discuss these guidelines with them prior to registration to help them feel comfortable.
